Project Overview
The objective of this project was to install 13 kilometers of new six-inch diameter pipeline along the existing pipeline corridor. This infrastructure upgrade was a critical component of ensuring safe and reliable operations, supporting the ongoing enhancement of Trinidad’s offshore pipeline network. The project aligns with the recent Trinidad Offshore Pipeline Replacement (TOPR) project completed in 2023, which replaced 96 kilometers of 12-inch pipeline for transporting liquids from bp’s offshore production facilities to the Galeota Point terminal.
SMSCL played a significant role in ensuring the successful execution of the Stork Ocelot Pipeline Project by providing critical equipment, personnel, and welfare support to maintain operational efficiency throughout the ROW (Right-of-Way).
Our contributions included:
- Equipment Rental and Operation:
- 5 x 320 Excavators with experienced operators to manage trenching, backfilling, and pipeline handling.
- 4 x LMI Excavators with operators for precision excavation and earth-moving tasks.
- 2 x D6 Dozers with operators for clearing and leveling the ROW for pipeline installation.
- 2 x Pipe Sleds dedicated to the transportation of pipeline materials along the ROW.
- Welfare Support:
- 24 Portable Toilets strategically placed along the ROW, maintained with cleaning services every two days to ensure sanitary conditions for workers.
- 5 Wheel Tractors with operators dedicated to supporting welfare services and logistics along the ROW.
- 12 Fabricated Trailers specially designed to hold portable toilets, ensuring easy movement and accessibility for the workforce.
- Pipeline Support:
- 4 Welding Lead Trailers provided to support welding activities along the ROW, ensuring that welding teams had access to required equipment throughout the project.
SMSCL Project Scope:
- Supply and operation of excavation equipment, including 320 Excavators, LMI Excavators, and D6 Dozers.
- Provision of pipe sleds for efficient transportation of pipeline materials along the ROW.
- Establishment and maintenance of welfare facilities, including portable toilets, wheel tractors for support, and fabricated trailers for improved accessibility.
- Deployment of welding lead trailers to facilitate seamless pipeline welding operations.
