SMSCL is currently executing “CONSTRUCTION OF FIRE WATER RING MAIN FOR NAAS FACILITY AT BEACHFIELD, GUAYAGUAYARE” for The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC). The works entails constructing a new Firewater ring main piping system and associated firewater protection ancillaries at the operational New Abyssinia Accumulator Station (NAAS) Facility at Beachfield, Guayaguayare. The works activities consist of the trenching of approx. 660 m for the installation of 12” HDPE pipeline and approx. 218 m for installation of 6” HDPE segments of pipeline, Firewater equipment together with the relevant civil and structural infrastructure. The works also entail the undertaking of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Survey, to capture any underground infrastructure, prior to commencement of excavation.
The Works are being performed near existing pipelines, valves, slug catcher facility, administration building and in areas traversed by the NGC and other third parties. These works are being pursued with the utmost regard for the safety of personnel, the Employer, environment, the public and other third-party activities. The Project involves stringing of 12” & 6” HDPE piping, Fusion Bond welding of 6” & 12” piping and fittings, fabrication of 12” & 6” carbon steel piping, hydrotest, NDE, blasting & painting, construction of pipe supports, pipe sleepers, pipelines (AG/UG), paving, thrust blocks and all other miscellaneous structures together with complete NAAS Firewater site infrastructure. The works are executed under strict Control of Work and permitting, as the NAAS facility is in operation for the duration of the Work.
